Huawei Reportedly Set to Establish Two Production Bases in Hungary

Chinese telecommunications equipment provider Huawei Technologies is reportedly set to establish two production bases in Hungary in 2009, according to a May 21 Budapest Business Journal report. Locations of the two production bases are expected to be Komarom in northern Hungary and Pecs in the southern part of the country. Combined, the two bases are estimated to cover 20,000 square meters of production space. It is reported that Huawei plans to generate US$800 million worth of equipment production in 2009 and US$1.1 billion in 2010, although the type of equipment to be manufactured at either location has not been confirmed yet. According to EE Times Europe, Huawei has begun recruitment for its Hungary manufacturing operations, for which the company is expected to employ a staff of 280 in 2009 and 420 more in 2010.
